The fourth edition of ‘Fare Cinema’ will be held until 20 June, the festival dedicated to Italian cinema abroad promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, ICE Agency and Istituto Luce – Cinecittà.

The 2021 edition, entitled ‘Reboot – Italian cinema restarts’, underlines the extraordinary ability to react shown by the Italian film industry in the face of the pandemic crisis, and it presents a specific focus dedicated to the ‘film making crafts‘.

Also this year ‘Fare Cinema’ takes place online – on italiana and on the MyMovies platform, with a series of original productions realised with the partners of the initiative, and in presence thanks to the events organized by the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes in the world.

Starting from Monday, on the italiana Vimeo channel, we will find the five finalist titles in the ‘Best Short Film’ category of the David di Donatello Awards 2021 (‘Italian Screens‘ with the Accademia del cinema italiano and ANICA), the three unpublished documentaries of the Turin International Book Fair that tells the passage of great novels from paper to screen (‘BookToScreen’) and the complete series of short films made for the ‘Corti d’Autore’ project (with ANICA). And yet video clips, interviews and online meetings that will give the floor to the protagonists of the audiovisual industry (‘Reboot’ / ‘The new embrace of cinema’, with Fondazione Cinema per Roma and Mario Sesti, curator of a cycle of six online meetings organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens, Dakar, Hamburg, Ljubljana, San Paolo and Toronto).

Starting from June 14, for six weeks, the ‘Oltre lo schermo’ review, curated by Audiovisiva (audiovisiva.org) presents 15 documentaries on the professions of cinema, accessible for free on a dedicated platform through the Italian Cultural Institutes websites and italiana.

In addition, during the days of ‘Fare Cinema’, Italian Cultural Institutes, Embassies and Consulates will offer free online screenings through the MyMovies platform with the stories of entrepreneurship and excellence of ‘Biopic‘ (Rai.com and MoviHeart) and the film review ‘With a Movie Camera’, organized in collaboration with True Colors.

Italian cinema thus confirms itself as an extraordinary narrative tool for the country in its entirety and in its variety, as also appears from the thousands of wonderful locations of ItalyForMovies.

The Fare Cinema program culminates on Saturday 19 June with the celebration of the second Italian Film Day.
